Dating antique sewing machines

If you have a "NA" serial number it will have a "Year of Issue of 1951".What this tells us is 1 million "NA" serial numbered sewing machines were manufactured in 1951, 1 million "NB" serial numbered sewing machine were manufactured in 1956 and 1 million "NB" serial numbered sewing machine were manufactured in 1961.This still seemed to confuse owners because it would show the allotted quantity and allotted date for each model. What owners did not understand was that it was only the allotted date and not the date their sewing machine was made.

When it comes to Anderson, South Carolina Singer only lists 3 Years of Issue for all NA, NB and NC serial numbers that include Models 301, 301A, 401A, 403A, 500A and 503A.After 1900 all models manufactured overseas now included a suffix after the model number to denote the place of manufacture.Example would be a 222K, manufactured in Kilbowie, Scotland. These years are not completely accurate and are only the years of the entire allotted serial numbers; NA-1951, NB-1956 and NC-1961.
